Bike Carrier / July 20, 2018 / Eglantine Laboissonniere
The normal passenger vehicle is the car that is seen the most with a roof bike rack installed. This includes 4 door sedans coupes and hatchbacks. The size and height of these automobiles is what makes roof racks ideal. Cyclists can easily put their bicycles on and take them off with ease. It is possible to install these on an SUV or truck but there are better solutions available. Also sometimes its not efficient to do so because of the raised aspect of a sport utility vehicle or short roof length of a truck. A roof bike rack system is popular with sedans also because of the versatility and usefulness.
For those who do not want to put racks on the top of their cars you would probably be better off going with this one. This type of rack is really easy to put on and take off your car. This is one of the reasons why it is such a popular rack. Spare Tire Mounts If you are hauling one or two bikes the spare tire mounts are great. They cost less and are less of a hassle to use. You basically connect straps to your spare tire and strap the bikes on. This will keep you from doing any high lifting but if you have more than two bikes this one wont work for you. These type of rack are designed for SUVs because you need a spare tire to mount it to.
You also need to determine the amount of load the mounting gears and load bars can carry. Add the weight of the bike or bikes and the rack to determine if they are within the carrying capacity of the gears and bars. The Attachment Type Which part of the car you intend to attach the cycle rack is also a prime consideration in your choice. Cycle racks can be attached on your car by means of: • Roof. This provides the benefit of the rack being out of your way. Bike racks attached to the roof will not hamper your line of vision while driving. It will also not block access to the cars trunk. A bike rack mounted on the roof of the car though needs to be installed by a professional.
