Bike Carrier / July 21, 2018 / Garland Montminy
Most of the bicycle carriers are designed for up to 2 bicycles and some can carry three. At the end of the day your choice will come down to which bike rack will actually fit your car. Keep in mind that the maker often sells additional straps to help to secure the rack if it doesnt fit completely. The Car Roof Rack The trouble with this is that its the most expensive option. You will have to get crossbars and bike trays installed onto the vehicle first and only then can you think of adding the bike rack too it. Another down side is the added wind resistance when traveling. The height of the bikes on the car adds hectic drag to the car hence you gas bill goes up too. The Trunk Mount Bike Rack The second idea is to the get a trunk mount rack. This type of rack straps onto the car with special nylon webbing straps and has cushioned contact points so you dont damage the paint. Most models are easy to get on and off. There are a few downs to this type of bike carrier too. You will not be able to get in and out of the rear end of the car because the straps are fastened down onto the car. Plus a sedans are usually low and the clearance between your bike tire and the ground maybe a few millimeters.
Usually only top brands produce such cars (and racks). Usually roof racks are mostly used for mounting mountain bikes. The advantages of having a roof rack is that there is minimal movement when the bikes are mounted. This setup is ideal if the terrain is uneven. The bikes are so secure that you wont have to worry them falling off as your vehicle goes over bump after bump. The downside of this rack is that the height of your vehicle increases drastically. In other words you have to watch what is on top of the car as you drive. In many cities car parks have got height limits and the car wont be able to go through. Therefore if you own a road bike a rear rack would appear more practical. Although there is some vibration such racks are secure enough for normal road usage. Just dont try to drive your clean and beautiful family saloon into the mud. You can choose from one of three options for the best bike racks for sedans.
There are many other types of storage options that will work effectively and securely that will enable you to store your bike in a space that is small or large. Other types of Indoor Bicycle Storage include: • Free standing floor • Ceiling to floor tension bicycle storage • Wall mounted bike storage • Vertical storage for your bicycle • Wall hooks If you live in a small space and you own a bicycle you obviously will want to have a good and secure way to store your bike. You will also need a way to store your bike that will not take up a lot of room. If you have some wall space you will be able to mount your bike on a wall with a wall hook or a wall mounted rack.
