The three main types into which the bike racks generally fall are the strap-on trunk rack hitch mount rack and the roof rack. Each of these categories of bicycle racks has their own unique set of advantages and disadvantages for the users. Some of the bike racks have specific modifications to make them suitable for use inside SUVs or other such cars of greater dimensions. The strap-on racks are among the least expensive among such racks and fit for attachment to the back bumper of the car. However these bike racks have the greatest probability of causing damage to both the vehicles and the bikes compared to other types of racks.
Boot Clips Racks These bike racks work by fastening straps around the edge of a cars boot or bumper. Two arms attach to the bike underneath the top tube and straps or bungees hold the bike in place. Although the initial installation is quite tedious due to adjusting strap lengths they can then be used in just a couple of minutes. These models require very little lifting are suitable for nearly any bike and is the cheapest style of bike rack. Like hitch racks these models impair boot access are vulnerable to high curbs and make it more difficult to fit into parking spaces.

You will also need a way to store your bike that will not take up a lot of room. If you have some wall space you will be able to mount your bike on a wall with a wall hook or a wall mounted rack.
