Bike racks are an essential accessory for allowing riders to easily transport their bikes by car without needing to dismantle them or purchase a trailer. They are available in various designs and price ranges each with advantages and disadvantages. There are different designs available; some require the front wheel of the bike to be removed whereas others can be clamped directly to the bike frame. These racks can usually be attached to a standard roof rack load bars or cross bars attached to a car.
Roof Racks They also make roof bike racks for cars. If you have more than two bikes to carry and are going on a long trip you may want to consider getting the bike racks for the roof. These usually come with hooks and a strap allowing you the ability to strap your bikes down before you travel. The hooks lock through the tires to hold it in place and the straps go around the back wheels. It just all depends on the type you get. There are many different styles when it comes to bike racks for cars. Bikes are good to carry on vacation especially if you are going to a campground or somewhere that has bike trails.
To get the most benefit and use out of your bike its important to take the time and choose the right one for your situation. Bike rakes are usually broken down into two categories - ones that go on top of your vehicle and ones that go behind. Both of these types work perfectly when installed correctly but your vehicle may only support one type. Read the instructions and label before purchasing any bike rack to ensure it will install properly on your make and model vehicle. If you choose to install a rack that mounts on the top of your vehicle be sure to watch for low clearances as you drive.
