Whether you are just an avid user an adventurer or commuter different bike racks are available depending on your needs. An indoor bike rack is the most common. This type of rack is often seen in bike stores. It comes in two forms the wall-mounted rack and the double-decker rack. The wall-mounted rack is attached to a wall making a bike stay in an upright position avoiding bends. The double-decker rack however can accommodate a lot of bikes at the same time. This can be very convenient for those who want to save space. The outdoor bike rack on the other hand is dependable in keeping bikes safe and steady in the outdoors.
Your first decision should be if you are looking for a trunk or rear mounted bicycle rack or will you invest in a bike rack that is mounted on the roof of the car. This can be something that seems irrelevant but after purchasing it could turn into a major problem. Choosing a roof mounted bicycle rack protects the bikes finish from scratches. It will prevent most damage to the bikes frame. Having a roof rack will eliminate any visibility issues when looking in the rear. Backing up or parallel parking will never be an issue if purchasing a roof rack. Purchasing a roof rack allows you to access your trunk with ease.
The better trunk mounted racks have individual cradles for each bike. These cradles insure the bike does not slide around on the support bars and makes securing the bike much easier. When hauling more than one bike the cradles help keep the bikes separate so that your custom paint job is not ruined. It is also important that the bike racks for cars keep the bikes off the vehicle if you plan on switching the rack from vehicle to vehicle this is something to be aware of when you put if on a new vehicle put a new bike on the rack or change up the regular order in which the bikes are placed on the rack.
