Bike racks are used for the protection of both the bike and the vehicle. A roof mounted bike rack is frequently used and it is ideal for carrying bikes in cars trucks and other similar vehicles. A roof bike rack can hold up to four bikes at a time. Some roof mounted bike racks come clamped with a camper roof and are used as a conventional roof rack for sports vehicles. Rear hitch-mount racks are another commonly used type. Rear hitch-mount racks better known as receiver hitch racks can carry up to five bikes. To carry one or two bikes rear ball-hitch mount racks are ideal.
The most inexpensive type of rack for cars is hitch rack. It will help you to take many bikes and is also cheaper. Include additional accessories if you to want to carry your camping equipments or sporting equipments along with the bikes. Avoid exceeding the limits mentioned for each rack and opt for transporting only limited number of cycles which can be transported using the rack. You should opt for racks which help you to easily install and attach bikes and take it safely across without causing any damage to your vehicle as well as the bikes. Once you have selected the perfect one and attached it to your vehicle you should drive the vehicle slowly.

The bike is conveniently situated on the roof of the car or SUV and the back of the vehicle is left easy to access. If you have a roof rack already mounted on your vehicle it makes this a much easier choice. However there are some versions that work without a car roof rack. The downside to a rack on the roof is that it exposes the bicycle to the elements. Flying rocks and debris can hit the bike and cause damage.
